Amp Gurus--Need Tweed Deluxe Help

I think I've posted this before,not sure.
On a couple of my tweed amps (especially the '57 Deluxe),I can turn the volume knob on the guitar (any guitar) and get a scratchy sound through the amp.
Now,it's not the guitar.I read an article before by Gerald Weber which mentioned that certain amp parts have drifted from their values when you get this sound, and no amount of spray in the pots will solve the problem (I can't find the article).
Also,on the Deluxe,I still get sound with the volume pot on zero---it's real bassy, and the true sound doesn't kick in till about 2 1/2.The other volume pot (mic) is also on zero.
Any ideas? The amp was recapped about a year ago.
Thanks in advance!
