Damn I still get goose bumps when I see that gig.
To the best of my knowledge the Rosewood Tele was a gift from Fender to George. Apparently, it was flown over to London from California in its own first-class seat, accompanied by some flunky and hand delivered. I think George then gave it to someone (can't remember) as a token of appreciation.
Feel free to set the record straight if I have been inaccurate or incomplete.
