I never fooled with whammy bars myself, 'cause of the tuning issues. Even if you've got good tuners and graphite in the nut slots, you're still going to go out when you do unison bends, etc. It never seemed worth it to me.

I never have tuning issues with my whammy guitars, no matter how much I use the bar. My "rock" (for stability) is my Hamer Phantom w/a locking Kahler Pro that is pretty much stock from the factory, but I use Vintage-style Fender trems for everything else and rarely, if ever have an issue. Nut lubrication and slots has a lot to do with that I think.
-Adrian Belew on "Discipline" LP
-Eddie Van Halen-SO much up until 1984. After that, I can't listen to the band, so I don't know what he did.
-Hendrix-goes w/o saying
-Vai in "the Attitude Song". After getting that GP insert in '84, I really didnt' need to listen to anything else he ever did.
