A re-tube and expert bias adjustment can make the DRRI sound even better. There are a lot of reports how "cold" the bias is set at the factory. I can attest to that.

My bias is set pretty hot: humbuckers start to drive my amp in a really good way, even without pedals with the volume on 4. I use a Bad Monkey to be able to get overdrive at slightly lower volumes (as well as have a clean sound when I turn it off). Otherwise, my volume and tone knobs are my overdrive settings.
