A few years ago, one of the major car mags did a comparo with the Element, that Scion, the PT Cruiser and Chevys' HHR. They did not have the newer, panel-truck version of the HHR. But the gave top honors for overall to the Scion, despite the fact that the back seat had to be removed with tools to capitalize on the cargo space.
I thnk Guitar Player actually did a little blurb on the Scion, as well, demonstrating that it could transport a man and his half-stack with accessories with little difficulty.
Thus far, whenever I've had a gig, I've found that I can get the entire PA, Bass rig, both guitar amps, all accoutrement (including instruments) into my sisters' suburban. Drums not included.
