I've got an old RC-20, which is really simple to use for practicing. Once you have it set up, it's basically just stomping it on for recording/overdubbing or off if you want to play on top of your loop without recording. I've found it to be an amazingly useful tool for working on solos and improvising. The thing I have the most trouble is is my sloppy playing (sadly, I haven't found a pedal to help with that).
From what I've read, the RC-2 isn't any more difficult than the older RC-20.
