Oh another point, if you remove the pickguard you can actually adjust the pole pieces on the neck pickup you can't see - from underneath. For example if your "G" string is too strong you can adjust down the "G" string pole piece from up top on the one coil and then remove the pickguard and adjust down the pole piece that isn't visible from above on the other coil.
Many times we found that some of the Customs could sound a bit muddy in the neck position but with some adjustments in overall pickup height, whether up or down, and individual pole piece adjustment - you could tame her.
Many have put an overwound Tele pickup in the bridge to balance out the volume of the 2 pickups. You can adjust your Volumes but if you like the Bridge to be a bit fatter but retain the Tele sound it's a cool mod.
Dropping the neck PU is easy but sometimes you lose some of the tone if too low. It really depends on the guitar.

I love em' and have had the opprtunity to try originals, MIM, and MIJ models.
Each have there own feel and sound - subtle but nevertheless - different.
Some of the originals I've tried have had some really hot neck pickups which are great for Rock and hard drivin' Blues. They're all good!
For what ever reason I tend to like the MIM models best. They have a certain something I like but so many have said that the MIJ models are tops for the reissues. Those who own the originals are especially lucky because those babies have been slowly climbing in value (finally).
