Hearing is a precious thing. Once lost never to return. Maybe it's something to consider when the very young are around an amp and they are at ear level?
I know I am as guilty as sin playing as loud as I have all these years.
But I can understand why a child would complain. Maybe a set of ear plugs would make them feel better about Dad's Marshall stack.
