Hello everyone. I found this forum while researching my next instrument buy, and learned a lot just in one visit, so I thought this would be a good place to stick around.

My nick is NortyFiner, as in FortyNiner, or San Francisco 49ers. I am a huge 49ers fan, and I use this nick on most of the forums I visit; most people just call me Norty. In real life, I am a mechanic in the US Navy...18 years done, now it's just counting down to retirement on shore duty.

As far as music goes, I am just a hobbyist; I have never been in a band, and probably never will be. I have been into music all my life, but got a late start (college) on learning to play. I struggled for two years trying to play guitar and was never really happy with it. Then one day in 1989, an 84 Fender P bass and I found each other, and I have been stuck on Fenders and playing bass ever since. I am not really that good, and I certainly don't have all the fancy gear. But music is what you make it, and for me, it's fun!
