One idea I had if you could find the right stuff or even get it made (but don't ask me where??) is metal work. You know how a lot of basses have metal/chrome work at the bottom of the bridge? Flames in chrome and such? I thought that would look pretty sweet, especially if the guitar has humbuckers. Not that it matters though. Anybody out there ever done this before? Where would you go to get stuff done like that?
You could do some pretty funky things with paint too, like a checkerboard pattern.
If you decoupaged a picture on the pickguard what would you use to protect it? You wouldn't bother if it was just going to rip or tear.
