I'm way too picky for my own good. I start with a good old Fender heavy, thin it out from the tip to about 1/4 inch back to almost the thinness of a medium, then point the tip. Tone difference between pointed and original round tip is amazing IMO.
Someone make a $135 meteorite pick. They weather the washer/dryer very well, I hear.
