For Christian music, you can get a good range of sounds from either of your mentioned instruments, but I only have experience with the MIM Standard, as I just traded for one. (By the way, I love it)
Overall, the pickups are good, very useable, the hardware is alright for the most part, maybe get a tech to change the output jack, and if you just want to tinker with it, it's also a great modding platform. It's just a really fun instrument, you'll see.
Now, if anyone could please tell me how to post pictures, that would be just great.
