Exactly. All my tube amps sport Carling 3-ways for off/standby/on - aside from the rewiring, it'd be a direct replacement in the GA-5 for the existing 2-way without having to drill another control faceplate hole.
I don't see a need (right now) to mod the diode rectifier, particularly if a standby is added.
Those mesh grilles - front and rear - beg to be removed, and the cord box needs demolition.
I'm gonna add a 1/4" 8 ohm speaker jack to run an external cab (since the Heyboer OT is 4/8 ohm tapped). The JenNeo 2x12 I'm building will be a nice tonal experiment.
A 10" will fit, but it will be partially blocked by the baffle's TV front. I have a hefty 8 ohm Weber Chicago Vintage CTC-10" that should be sweet for this amp.
Now all I need is the TIME to fiddle with this GA-5, while awaiting another to arrive!
