I feel your pain. My meat hooks only feel comfortable on a wider neck. Outside of the aftermarket, you don't have much options. The American Deluxes I've played didn't have a wider nut.

The regular Highway 1 Tele does indeed have a wider (1 11/16") nut. The neck feels great, one of my favorites. You might also want to consider a neck with a wide profile, such as Nocaster reissue. Ultimately, your best bet might be to get an after market neck.
