Arlo, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I wish there was something I could say to help, but words mean so little at this time.
I've been away for the weekend visiting my own parents - my Dad is 84 and was diagnosed as having the early stages of Alzheimers Disease late last year. He's physically quite fit, but his mind is slowly but surely slipping away. There are times when I dread those late night phone calls just in case one of them brings the news that I have prayed I will never hear.
It comes to us all one day, and I'm so glad that you enjoyed so many happy years with him. Life can seem so terribly short, but it was better for you to have known him for the time you shared together than to have never known him at all.
Take good care of the rest of your family.
