I've tried many speakers in my BJ and the best to tighten the bass and tame the top end, while sounding good both clean and overdriven...the Veteran 30 from www.warehouseguitarspeakers.com This is a perfect clone of the Celestion Vintage 30 speaker and extremely reasonable in cost too. I set up my controls with the master volume at 12, bass around 8 (for singles and 6 for 'buckers), treble around 7, mids 5 and prevolume at 3 to 4. This gives me a full sounding clean platform to add OD pedals (I use a barber small fry). I don't use the fat switch much at all (only with a tele going straight in, no pedals).
