With mine I always use a Bad Monkey. I really like the 2 band eq on the pedal and how it can "shape" the overdriven tone. This is especially handy when I switch to a guitar w/ humbuckers.
One other plus...the Bad Monkey works really well as a mild cleanish boost, where the pedal eq can remove any harsh spikes if you have an overly bright guitar.
Not to mention it's simply a fantastic sounding od pedal aside from all of that!
