The trick is to negotiate that stuff in the beginning, before you move in together. For me it went something like, "You know I have a room for an office and to play music in... You understand that if we move in together, that's something I need to have, right?" If she even nods her head, that's as good as a lifetime contract. Twenty years later, you can still say, "Look...we AGREED..."
