...Memphis Les Paul Special from the flea market has Vol/Tone for each pickup.

FORGET the Tele 4-way scheme for that axe - its scheme is exclusive to the 4-way lever pup selector used with that mod. Plus, it only works for a layout with a master volume, not individual pickup volumes.
To get the series combo on that axe, the easiest way to go is with a push/pull replacing one of the pots. You can put it under any pot you like, and wire the switch-part like this:
A "side effect" of the Gibson-style toggle and this mod is that with the p/p PULLED, when the toggle is in the middle ("both pickups on"), it will actually SHUNT the bridge, so you just hear the neck pup. To hear the series, you must have the pup selector toggle selecting the bridge pup.
There is a tweak to this idea: you can wire the second pole of the P/P so that it basically bypasses the pup selector; so that when you pull for series the pup selector is disabled - you just get the pups in series. If you wanna go for it, let me know and I'll post it.
AND, yes, you can add second p/p to get the out of phase combos (parallel and series, with both switches).
BUT, if you just wanna add one P/P, I like to go with series/out of phase on an axe like that. Who needs a tone fatter than P90s? Series is TO FAT with those pups! But, the series/out of phase is a real stinger - think, Albert King...
It has the same side effect as the series mod: when pulled, the selector toggle give you throw #1 neck, throw #2 neck, throw #3 series/out of phase.
