In my experience Ernie Ball are the better strings. And according to my electronic tuner they vibrate more evenly than D'Addario's.
But then I use the Hybrid Slinky's 9-46.....

With 7 or 8 winds you're bound to have the strings slipping. 2-3 winds will do.
